A fierce battle between machines, Furosia, rages on. Sparks fly as metal clashes in this epic war.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is an upcoming post-apocalyptic action-adventure film directed by George Miller, the creator of the Mad Max franchise. The film is set to be released on May 24, 2024, and is expected to be a thrilling addition to the Mad Max universe.

The film is a spin-off and prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, which was released in 2015. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga focuses on the origin story of the renegade warrior Furiosa, played by Anya Taylor-Joy. The film is set 15 to 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, as the world falls apart. Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth.

The film's cast also includes Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe/Rizzdale Pell, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, John Howard as The People Eater, Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, Charlee Fraser as Mary Jo Bassa, Furiosa's mother, Quaden Bayles, and Daniel Webber as War Boy.

George Miller and co-writer Nick Lathouris spent over 15 years writing the script for Mad Max: Fury Road and developed backstories for every character, particularly focusing on protagonist Imperator Furiosa. This attention to detail is expected to continue in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with the film's plot set to explore Furiosa's early years and her journey to becoming the renegade warrior we know from Mad Max: Fury Road.

The film is being produced by Village Roadshow Pictures, Kennedy Miller Mitchell, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Principal photography took place in Australia from June to October 2022. The film is expected to have a budget of $168 million, making it one of the most expensive Australian films ever made.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set to have its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2024, and is scheduled to be released in theatres in Australia by Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures on May 23, 2024, and in the United States the following day.

The film's official synopsis reads, "As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga promises to be an exciting addition to the Mad Max franchise, exploring the backstory of one of the franchise's most beloved characters. With a talented cast, a skilled director, and a massive budget, the film is sure to be a visual spectacle that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
